Children’s Judo classes

TEACHING CHILDREN LIFE SKILLS THROUGH SPORT

We all develop morals and lifelong character traits during our early years. At The Judo Factory in Richmond, we focus on personal development in all of our programmes. Self-control, fair play and respect are just some of the things we teach our students. If you think your child would benefit from Judo classes, contact us today.

Fun lessons for children

Confidence. Strength. Street Smarts.

At The Judo Factory we train children from the age of four. We love helping the children in our classes to learn something new and fun while developing new skills, both physical and mental. We understand that each child learns in their own way and at their own pace, so we will work hard to provide the dedicated support and encouragement your child needs and deserves.

Studies suggest that the average child has an attention span of roughly two to three minutes per year of their age – for an eight-year-old, that’s around 16 to 24 minutes. With this in mind, it’s essential that lessons are a careful balance between teaching, practice and fun! We’re always mindful of the need for lessons to be fun, and we consistently work to make sure that they are! We teach the fundamentals of judo through a creative and engaging tuition style, keeping your child enthusiastic about their lessons. Sessions are 45 minutes long, which we have found is the right length of time for the children to get engaged, work hard, and tire themselves out… but not so long that they lose concentration or stop having fun!

The benefits of judo

MARTIAL ARTS CAN TEACH YOUR CHILD INVALUABLE SKILLS

Developing life skills

YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN MORE THAN JUST JUDO IN THEIR LESSONS

Learning Martial Arts is an excellent way for your child to develop important life skills alongside the sport itself. Discipline is key in all forms of martial art, and we use fun and creative lessons to begin the process of developing this. Teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership are all skills that are encouraged and taught within the context of our Judo lessons. The benefits of learning Martial Arts will carry over into your child’s schooling and day-to-day life.

Teaching children with different abilities

LEARNING DIFFICULTIES DON’T NEED TO STOP YOUR CHILD ENJOYING JUDO

It’s an essential element of our Martial Arts classes that we recognise and respect the fact that each child is unique and learns in their own way. As part of this, we have worked with many children who have learning difficulties, giving them the support and encouragement they need to be able to join in with the fun as part of the class.

Paving the way for success

OUR ADVANCED JUNIORS CLASS HELPS GIFTED STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS

While the focus of our children’s Judo classes is to teach young children skills that they will be able to draw on throughout their lives, we do find that a good number of our students have a talent that they wish to develop. If your child is a natural, we have advanced classes available for older children that will help them to improve and develop their Judo, including preparation for competitions. We never emphasise competition as the primary goal, but we do make sure the option is there for our talented kids!
